Job Overview:
This position supports Aerojets growing Mechanical Engineering organization in Sacramento and reports to the Mechanical Design Manager or designated lead. This position performs a variety of mechanical engineering tasks on fast-paced development programs.

Responsibilities:
60% - Under minimal supervision, performs mechanical integration of propulsion systems used in missile and space craft applications. Designs complex mechanical systems that manage high temperature gasses (products of combustion). General duties consist of performing design trade studies, defining designs with CAD models, performing preliminary analysis, conducting tolerance studies, preparing/reviewing engineering drawings, participating in hardware testing and design reviews. This position will take a lead role for many of these program tasks. Oversees the work of less experienced engineers and support personnel.
20% - Lead design creation and provide technical input with respect to hardware manufacturing, processing and mechanical assembly. Requires interaction with technicians and suppliers to assure that engineering requirements are satisfied.
20% - Lead role in customer meetings, peer reviews, and problem solving meetings. Prepare and present engineering material for stage gate design reviews and accountable for assuring the content of supporting centers of excellence. Contacts include interacting with government and commercial customers on technical matters, which requires excellent technical presentation skills.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline and at least nine years of directly related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Hands-on experience with mechanical systems is strongly preferred (aerospace, automotive, aircraft or machinery). Desire experience with CAD software design tools (Pro/E). A demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering analysis is required. Electro-mechanical or Mechatronics background will be required to perform daily job functions. Experience with liquid rocket engines a plus. Must be a self-starter. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
