Job Overview:
Perform Manufacturing Engineering assignments for the production of solid rocket motor for various aerospace and defense programs.

Responsibilities:
Provide manufacturing technical leadership and resource planning necessary to support program requirements through the preparation and implementation of manufacturing process plans. Gather and analyze manufacturing data to develop solutions to technical problems encountered during manufacturing. Activities may involve estimating schedules and costs to assist with program planning.
30% - Prepare detailed instructions for the manufacturing and assembly of solid rocket motors to define and document the manufacturing and assembly process. Work in a team environment to ensure all Safety, Quality, and Design requirements are met during production.
30% - Provide continuous improvements to existing manufacturing and assembly processes. Collect and analyze data to support process improvements. Respond to changing production requirements while adhering to defined production goals.
25% - Provide training and guidance to shop floor personnel. Monitor shop floor practices to establish process control during critical operations. Respond to shop floor inquires for assistance to maintain productivity.
5% - Represent manufacturing objectives to outside organizations. Participate in product and tooling design reviews. Participate in program production meetings and reviews.
5% - Assist with company wide initiative to promote workplace improvements.
5% - Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an appropriate science or engineering field and at least nine years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, design drawings and specifications, and translate into hardware fabrication and assembly processes. Experience with rocket motor manufacturing and Process Safety Management principles are preferred. Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices is desired. Organizational skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills in a team environment are required. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications required. Experience with Interleaf/Quicksilver publishing software is a plus. Applicant must be a self-starter who requires minimum supervision.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
