Job Overview:
Aerojet, a premier aerospace and defense company specializing in missile and space propulsion, is seeking an experienced engineer as a key contributor in our thermal analysis group. The candidate will be a senior staff primarily working in the thermal analysis area to develop analysis techniques and provide test support to both liquid and solid propulsion with a market leading propulsion supplier. The position of Senior Engineer will be responsible to conduct engineering thermal analysis for both liquid and solid propulsion systems and components using commercial software tools such as ANSYS or SINDA. Typical responsibilities include planning and cost estimating for thermal analysis tasks, thermal modeling in both metallic and composite materials, and post-test analysis of test data to validate component and system analysis models
Responsibilities:
70% Perform engineering thermal analysis for both liquid and solid propulsion systems and components using commercial software tools such as ANSYS or Aerojet proprietary thermal analysis tools for both metallic and composite structures. This position will conduct thermal ablation analysis based on contract needs. Typical responsibilities include the planning and cost estimating for the thermal analysis tasks, thermal modeling in both metallic and composite materials, pre-test predictions and post-test analysis of test data to validate component and system analysis models. The candidate will coordinate implementation of thermal solutions for propulsion applications with the design engineers, structural analysts and manufacturing engineers in a multi-discipline project team
20% - Design and support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Develop test systems and strategies, specify instrumentation and analyze test results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews; design reviews, peer reviews, problem solving meetings and customer technical interchange meetings.
10% - Produce thermal analysis reports and make presentation of analysis results to both internal and external customers. Provide technical guidance to junior thermal analysts.
Qualifications:
BS degree (MS or higher preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and least five years of directly applicable technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in team leadership, finite element modeling in thermal analyses. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
