Job Overview:
Without appreciable direction, applies expertise to directly contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques as an emerging authority in the field of Contract Administration. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. May serve as an internal consultant for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans and objectives.
Responsibilities:
35% - Administers multiple airbreathing and tactical contracts. This is a challenging position that will involve the administration of numerous customers, programs and asssociated proposals. The Contract Specialist must be disciplined in the management of contract administration in order to protect company interests.
20% - Independently negotiates contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements and scope with the customer.
10% - Performs complex specialized assignments of contract administration on special assignment to the Director of Contracts. These assignments, for example, may involve review and evaluation of specific new or pending contract clauses (Federal Acquisition Regulations or customer created) and their potential impacts to Aerojet. The assignments may also require participation of any number of process improvement initiatives targeted at improving the business flow at Aerojet.
15% - Establishes Aerojet position on contract terms. Independently resolves problems of contract performance. Advises management of contractual obligations in their jurisdiction to ensure successful contract relationships with client organizations.
10% - Interfaces with senior customer representatives to answer inquiries, conduct fact-finding discussions and interpret contract terms. Assures that actions are compliant with public law and regulation.
10% - Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others, and may plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant project assignments, coordinating the efforts of support staff in the performance of assigned activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration or an appropriate discipline and ten years' directly related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Requires direct experience working with or for the U.S. Government in the area of Dod contract administration and detailed knowledge of Government Acquisition System.
Good business and contracting understanding is essential, along with good communication skills. Must demonstrate ability to handle customer interface independently. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
