Overview:
Communications Multimedia Intern - Possible P/T work once school resumes in fall.
Performs various tasks, including retrieving and preparing collection materials for digitization; image post-processing work and quality control checks on images, videos and metadata records; as well as enters and edits metadata in databases, spreadsheets, and other formats. The intern also prepares post-processing of digital images for preservation and online access; and assists in maintaining the hardware and software in the digitization lab.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
40% - Assists with scanning of photographs and printed materials.
35% - Assists with converting video archive collections to a digitize format.
25% - Assists with entering metadata in Archives’ collections management database or other databases
Requirements:
Candidate must be currently enrolled and have completed their junior year in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Graphic Arts, Film, Video, or related major and be in good academic standing.
Candidate must have knowledge of and demonstrated experience in using a variety of digital imaging and graphical software and database systems as well as Mac and PC computer skills.
Must have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team; with excellent interpersonal communication skills with an ability to work and communicate effectively.
Must have a willingness to learn and apply the standards for preservation of digital material in an archival setting.
Must be computer savvy with practical experience with basic image editing techniques in Adobe Photoshop (or a similar program) like cropping, balance adjustment, etc. and proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications.
This position requires the use of a variety of digital and analog equipment such as VCRs, VTRs and media recording devices.
U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person required.
