Overview:
Be a part of Aerojet’s growing Advanced Programs Business Unit. This position is to lead advanced development of rocket and ramjet propulsion systems, reporting to a Director of Programs within Aerojet’s Advanced Programs Business Unit. The position will oversee and manage one or more high visibility programs including engineering, quality, procurement, manufacturing, and test to achieve program objectives. The candidate will also be responsible for coordination and management of other program managers and deputy program managers.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
30% Manage integrated product team and lead team activities while interacting with the Director of Programs, Program Managers, Deputy Program Managers, functional managers, and customers to achieve program objectives (cost, schedule, quality). Candidate must be capable of working within an EVMS environment to control the project scope and team efforts.
20% Lead planning and proposals of key elements of a Program under general direction of the Director of Programs and Business Development.
20% Ensure schedule and cost parameters are upheld while leading the IPT to perform at high quality levels in support of customer requirements.
10% Prepare presentations and lead teams in presentations to peers, customers, and managers.
10% Travel to customers and suppliers to support program objectives.
10% Develop business case and oversee discretionary projects within the framework of the overall program.
Requirements:
BS degree in an engineering discipline and fourteen (14) or more years related experience in an engineering, product development or manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. MS in an engineering discipline preferred. Aerospace or defense development experience strongly preferred. Solid or liquid rocket and ramjet propulsion experience a plus.
Extensive knowledge of project management within the framework of the Project Management Institute including Project Planning, Project Control (Earned Value), Project Execution, Communication, Procurement, and Quality (PMP certification or Project Management certificate preferred). Knowledge of project management within the defense acquisition environment with specific knowledge of solid or liquid propulsion systems a plus. Demonstrated ability in team building and leadership skills to achieve project objectives. Demonstrated trustworthiness in accomplishing agreed upon objectives. Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously. Ability to independently propose, plan, and then execute a project. Ability to communicate with teammates, managers, and customers in a courteous and professional manner. Demonstrated Ability to implement product design and development stage gate process (reviews for design, build, and test).
Candidate must be proficient in the use of all the basic MS Office tools and therefore must be proficient in computer operating systems, MS Outlook, MS Excel (entering formulas, graphing, developing spreadsheets), MS PowerPoint (presentations, storyboard development, logic diagrams), MS Visio (business diagrams and sketches), and MS Word (tables, program plans). Proficiency to also include setting up Integrated Master Schedules using knowledge of MS Project or similar scheduling tool to create extensive project files for large-size projects. Experience in aligning MS Project schedules and Control Account Plans a plus.
Must be eligible for an Interim-Secret DoD Security Clearance and be able to obtain and maintain a final Top Secret DoD Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
