Overview:
This position supports Aerojet’s Design Engineering organization in Gainesville and reports to the Mechanical Design Manager or designated lead. The role performs a variety of mechanical engineering tasks on fast-paced development programs.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
60% - Under minimal supervision, performs mechanical component design for rocket propulsion systems. Design complex mechanical systems that manage high temperature gasses (products of combustion). General duties consist of performing design trade studies, defining designs with CAD models, performing preliminary analysis, conducting tolerance studies, preparing/reviewing-engineering drawings, participating in hardware testing and design reviews. May guide and direct work of less senior engineers and support personnel.

20% - Review designs and provide technical input with respect to hardware manufacturing, processing and mechanical assembly. Requires interaction with technicians and suppliers to assure that engineering requirements are satisfied.

20% - Participate in customer meetings, peer reviews, and problem solving meetings. Prepare and present technical material for stage gate design reviews. Contacts include interacting with government and commercial customers on technical matters, which requires excellent technical presentation skills.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering/scientific discipline and five years of directly related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Candidate must be a self-starter. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems is strongly preferred (aerospace, automotive, aircraft or machinery). Desire experience with CAD software design tools preferably Siemens NX. A demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering analysis is required. Experience with solid rocket motors and air-breathing propulsion a plus. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). This position may require relocation in the future.
