Overview:
The Executive Director of Advanced Programs is responsible for developing and executing strategies to grow Aerojet’s business into new product areas outside existing business units. This involves significant customer interface to identify areas of opportunity and develop Aerojet’s position. As opportunities materialize, the Executive Director is responsible for establishing win strategies. Following award, he/she will assume program management responsibilities until programs have reached sufficient maturity to evolve into existing or new business units.
The Executive Director, Advanced Programs is a recognized leader in the company and has overall responsibilities for planning, directing, and coordinating business development and program activities. This position develops, implements, and monitors business development and program policies and procedures and complies with pertinent regulations.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Strategic plan inputs and managing tasks of strategic importance to the product area.
• Manage Advanced Programs.
• Provide focal point program interface with customers.
• Be responsible for marketing new technology or follow-on business acquisition.
• Approve annual business plan and program budget and schedules.
• Foster ethical conduct, practices, and personal integrity throughout Aerojet to ensure the company’s ability to attract and retain customers in a highly competitive environment.
• Participate in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning organizational projects.
Represent the organization in meetings, conferences, and workshops, as assigned.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
30% Meet and interface with senior level DOD, NASA, and prime contractor executives
20% Oversee development and implementation of business strategies for new products and technologies
15% Oversee internally funded discretionary programs, particularly IRAD
15% Direct and manage externally funded advanced programs
10% Support development of Aerojet Technology Roadmap and other internal executive level plans
10% Interface with Aerojet senior level management as required
Requirements:
This is a senior position requiring a Bachelor's degree in the technical or business field and twenty (20) years of managing a successful business development function or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree preferred. This position requires the ability to direct and control overall organizational resources; considerable initiative, organizational skills; and the ability to drive convergence and resolution to challenges of substantial importance to the Company.
The successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills. This position requires extensive experience in an Aerospace and Defense manufacturing environment with program diversity ranging from complex development to rate production. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
