Overview:
Aerojet, the world's leading developer and manufacturer of electric propulsion systems is looking for an experienced, dynamic, technical program manager to join the Electric Propulsion Systems group as we expand our business. The Program Manager will be responsible for the successful planning and execution of complex technology development and production electric propulsion systems programs in support of commercial and government satellite applications that are enabled by next generation propulsion systems. Program manager's role will include leading interdisciplinary teams, managing customer interfaces, and achieving sales and profit objectives. The Program Manager will also be responsible for strategic product development and business development aimed at expanding the use of Aerojet's electric propulsion products to new platforms and new applications.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
40% - Leading cross functional program teams in conducting contracted work including task defintion, resource and schedule management, and problem resolution.
25% - Seeking out new business opportunities and writing proposals
15% - Acting as the primary interface between the company and the customer at all levels of management to provide program status and resolve issues.
10% - Monitoring cost, schedule, managing risk and reporting to internal management.
10% - Mentoring and developing less experienced program managers and support organization personnel.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline or a closely related field and at least 9 years of directly related experience in program management, project engineering and/or team leadership, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to manage programs with complex mechanical and electronics content including technical, financial, schedule and risk management. Experience managing both government and commercial contracts, negotiations, interpreting/managing specifications and SOWs against budget is desired. The candidate needs the ability to manage the overall business and technical relationships with major customers. Experience with space propulsion technology components and systems is a plus. Experience with strategic product development for new markets and business development are also desired. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills including strong leadership and interpersonal skills are needed. Must be well organized, goal oriented, and pro-active. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
