Overview:
Aerojet, a premier company providing missile and space propulsion, is seeking a motivated, experienced engineer to actively participate in advanced development thruster design, test, analysis, and integration activities.
The successful candidate will lead, delegate and perform engineering assignments. Assignments will require wide experience and knowledge of monopropellant development, assembly, test and operations plus general knowledge of related disciplines such as material science, component selection and thermal and structural analysis. They will support the Program Management Office by leading the technical team, while working within budgets and schedule. They will interact with customers and coworkers to ensure that appropriate internal and external requirements are verified.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
45% - Lead technical activities on major programs. Perform tasks, delegate tasks and make decisions required to conceptually design, analyze, build and test chemical propulsion thrusters and thruster systems. Verify their compliance with customer requirements and verify their suitability for the intended use. Provide feedback and interaction to show our customers that Aerojet is the best value supplier for their propulsion needs.
15% - Lead failure investigations to closure rapidly and rigorously, applying appropriate resources and personnel in a cost effective manner. Accumulate, prepare, and present the documentation that is required to close an investigation.
15% - Provide high quality documentation in the form of Memos, Reports, Test Procedures, Work Instructions, Compliance packages, and presentations, as appropriate to convey information both internally and externally.
15% - Support proposal activities and manage internal research and development efforts (as assigned).
10% - Cultivate an existing knowledge base and build on it to serve as a resource to Aerojet and our customers for design, test and implementation of thrusters and propulsion systems.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor degree in a related technical discipline and 9 years of related experience with space propulsion systems and technologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Interest in and knowledge of space propulsion systems or thrusters and their development are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, as well as high quality written and oral communication skills. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point). Travel is required within the United States to Aerojet’s customers and suppliers, as needed. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person.
