Overview:
The Senior Component Project Engineer supports and leads engineering teams in the successful planning, design, development, and qualification of engine components for liquid rocket engines and propulsion systems for spacecraft and launch vehicle applications.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
30% - Provides engineering technical leadership for the development of high-performance components such as valves, pressure transducers and thermal components. Requires a combination of technical and business skills to specify and implement the incorporation of components into complex system designs as part of a highly matrixed team organization for aerospace propulsion systems. Author component specifications to accurately and effectively communicate technical program requirements to suppliers. Review and approve supplier technical documentation and processes.
25% - Responsible for component development and qualification, including supplier technical oversight. Provides support to supplier for component development and fabrication, including nonconformance resolution. Provide project status at internal and external meetings.
20% - Participate in proposal activities for new business acquisition and manage internal research and development efforts.
20% - Formal problem solving for failure investigations including fault tree analysis and other investigation tools to ensure execution, resolution and close-out of all action plans.
5% - Conducts performance, technical, risk, quality, cost and other analysis as required in support of trade studies, proposals and programs.

Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline and 5 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent written and verbal skills and experience working in a team environment are needed. Requires the willingness and ability to travel up to 30%. Experience with propulsion technology development and/or advanced degree are preferred. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person.
