Overview:
Summer 2012 Internship
Under supervision of senior engineering staff, could perform any of the following tasks (based on team assigned to):
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
60% -Systems Analysis: Perform steady state or transient analysis of solid propulsion systems and components. Prepare analysis model and review analysis results with the senior analysts. Document analysis models and verification. Assist in reducing test data to validate results of analysis models. Support trades studies for system sizing and algorithm selection.
20%- Support verification tests of rocket propulsion systems and components. Work with designers and project engineers for the analysis support. Document results of testing.
20%- Experiment preparation: Develop and document the instrumentation interfaces between test apparatus and recording/control equipment. Prepare design of experiment test matrices. Develop and document control logic. Assist in test set-up. Establish data collection and recording requirements.
Requirements:
Current college enrollment and completion of Junior year in BS Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems or related discipline) OR currently in MS Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering with Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering focus, or related discipline) required. Coursework in controls engineering required. Demonstrated track record of success in academic or related endeavors required. Demonstrated technical aptitude and analytical skills required. Experience with Matlab/Simulink required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Requires U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Permanent Residency, or other status as a U.S. Person.
