Overview:
Under limited direction, the Engineering Specialist provides professional engineering support for Aerojets growing DACS (Divert and Attitude Control System) and TVA (Thrust Vector Actuation) programs at the Sacramento site by creation of new DACS and TVA designs.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
50%- Conceptualize, design & develop, analyze, fabricate, integrate, and test avionics control electronics for aerospace applications Perform and support analog and digital design and development using microcontrollers, TMS320 Series DSPs, DC-DC converters, digital logic, sensors, analog signal conditioning and filtering, discretes, and motors. Perform component and system stress analysis to ensure compliance with performance requirements. Work closely with avionics team (Electronics, Software, Test, etc.) and others to ensure successful completion of project milestones. Generate interface control drawings, design documentation, specifications, and interconnect diagrams. Perform detailed analysis of grounding, shielding, and EMI/EMC issues at the system level.
20%- Evaluate and implement hardware and functional requirements and design electrical interfaces. Develop test plans and strategies, specify instrumentation, develop and write test procedures as required, and analyze test results. Support verification and validation tests of avionics systems and components. Participate in team and customer meetings, technical and peer design reviews, and problem solving meetings.
10% - Perform and support analysis, simulations and testing for analog / digital designs as required for successful deployment of avionics control electronics and electro-mechanical actuator systems for aerospace applications.
10%- Interface with and support test staff to identify test requirements, electrical interfaces, and critical hardware/software issues. Support test installations and checkout. Write operating procedures. Collect and analyze test data. Troubleshoot control system electronics.
10%- Perform other assignments as required.
Requirements:
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related scientific discipline) and nine years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Direct software development experience in the design of actuators and thrust vector control systems. Advanced degree preferred. Multiple project experience with direct responsibility for avionics design in aerospace applications is required. Demonstrated background in testing and failure analysis. Design experience to aerospace requirements, environments and military standards is required. Experience with CAD systems and knowledge of drawing creation, release and configuration control processes. Software development, modeling and simulation experience is desired. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level(requires U.S. Citizenship).
