Overview:
Aerojet, a premier aerospace and defense company specializing in missile and space propulsion, is seeking an experienced engineer as a key contributor in our structural analysis group. The position of Engineering Specialist will serve as the lead structural analyst for both liquid and solid propulsion systems and components.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
70% - Perform structural and structural dynamics analyses for both liquid and solid propulsion systems and components. The primary focus of this position will be conducting structural analysis for composite structures. This position may serve as the lead structural analyst in a large program at Aerojet, involving planning and cost estimating for structural analysis tasks, coordinating analysis efforts with chief engineer, designers, and other IPT team members. Conduct finite element analysis modeling using ANSYS in both metallic and composite materials, and post-test analysis of test data to validate component and system analysis models. Provide structural design solutions and verification methods. Must also evaluate structural integrity with classical methods.

20% - Design and support verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Develop test systems and strategies, specify instrumentation and analyze test results. Participate in team meetings, technical reviews, design reviews, peer reviews and problem solving meetings.

10% - Produce analysis reports and test reports, and present analysis results to both internal and external customers.

Requirements:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with at least nine years of directly applicable technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced Engineering degree preferred. Must be able to work with minimal oversight. Demonstrated experience in team leadership, finite element modeling in structural analyses required. Candidate must have demonstrated experience working as a structural analysis lead. Proven experience in analysis optimization at the front-end design process will be a plus. In addition, the candidate must be proficient in using the ANSYS tool for both metallic and composite structures. Familiarity in structural dynamics analysis is strongly preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
