Overview:
Under general supervision and following established policies, performs manufacturing and machine shop engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard manufacturing principles, theories concepts and techniques.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
40% - Assists in the preparation of manufacturing assembly, cleaning and machining instructions. Responsible for the manufacturing and assembly engineering activities of development and production programs through the application of engineering procedures, which may involve theoretical and experimental investigation, technical direction and coordination, and the conception and planning of resources to support pump fed liquid engine hardware and/or software requirements.
20% - May provide solutions to technical problems utilizing manufacturing engineering techniques. Involves the analysis, evaluation and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing and assembly methods, facilities, processes, materials and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of pump fed liquid engine assembly.
15% - Assists in preparing for and participates in manufacturing Process Reviews of complex assemblies.
10% - Analyzes and develops methods to increase efficiency of manufacturing and assembly processes.
10% - Analyzes and develops methods to increase efficiency of manufacturing process and reduction of cycle times.
5% - May provide technical guidance to less senior engineers and shop personnel.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in an appropriate science and 2+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Experience with hardware fabrication and assembly processes in the area of pump fed liquid engine assembly required. Technical knowledge of Tig, Orbital and E.B. Welding and NDE Techniques. Experience preparing and presenting program reviews both internally and externally. Technical knowledge of assembly, pressure test, cleaning and leak testing techniques. Proficient computer skills in Quicksilver and Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Self-starter who requires minimum supervision. Requires organizational skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to organize and clearly convey thoughts and to communicate clearly and accurately on technical issues.
Workplace may include areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels. Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and equipment safety. May be required to utilize a variety of personal protection equipment.
