Overview:
This position requires a seasoned professional with detailed NDT background and experience. The position will encounter engineering challenges and is expected to apply experience and knowledge to achieve outcomes to a high degree of success.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
40% - Research, develop, implement, and apply new technology and NDT methods to the inspection of products enabling contractual and company obligations to be met. Train inspection personnel to NAS410 and Aerojet standards in the theory and application of NDT methods. Work directly on the manufacturing floor to resolve issues quickly and enhance product flow. Review inspection results to assure the delivered products and/or services conform to requirements. Develop, implement, and review corrective action, process improvements, and procedures.
25% - Interface with customers regarding the NDT process. Support product design reviews, design disclosure document and specifications review, provide input for quality program plans, and manufacturing documentation. Provide support for any applicable critical problem investigation and resolution teams. Develop and maintain NDE Plans.
15% - Mentor and train all Levels of NDT Personnel in ET, UT, RT, PT, MT. Utilize the application of quality engineering principles to provide practicable solutions to technical issues relating to the NDT process. Assemble and organize statistical data in relation to product and process performance. Evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions and process improvement activities
10% - Audit NDT functions, processes and practices, articulate findings and work closely with manufacturing to resolve and bring closure to issues with effective and robust CCA.
10% - Work with Manufacturing to implement emerging NDT techniques and disciplines into the production environment.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform duties to support the activities associated with NADCAP Certification requirements. May review manufacturing process planning to ensure compliance with drawing, specification and contractual requirements;
Requirements:
BS degree in related field and nine (9) years of related technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Must have previously held Level 3 certifications in at least Eddy Current, Ultrasonic Test and Radiographic Methods meeting the requirements of Mil-Std-410 or AIA NAS-410.
Additional methods (PT, MT) are desirable.
May be required to work some non day shift hours.
Knowledge of Ultrasonic equipment (contact and immersion) required.
Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Infrared, and Magnetic Particle equipment experience required.
Knowledgeable of ET & UT inspections of steel ducting /manifold structures for crack and other flaw conditions. Minimum 3 years experience in crack detection needed.
Skill in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
