Overview:
Under general supervision and following the established policies, performs professional engineering assignments requiring full use and application of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
(65%) Works as part of an IPT structure in the design of solid rocket motor grains and igniters. Conducts associated internal ballistics and performance analysis of the igniter or motor. Prepares predictions for motor test firings and conducts post firing correlation analysis.
(10%) Ballisticians typically spend a portion of their time at Technical Interchange meetings and Design Reviews and will directly interface with the customer.
(15%) As a integral part of the Loaded Motor IPT, the ballistician, prepares inputs for Engineering drawings and specification documentation relating to the Loaded Motor IPT.
(10%) Coordinates design requirements with manufacturing personnel and assists with definition of associated processes.
Requirements:
BS or MS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent major, and 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Good working knowledge of geometry, MS Project, MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel applications. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.
