Overview:
Under general direction, performs manufacturing engineering assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines. Responsible for the manufacturing engineering activities of development and production programs through the application of engineering procedures, which may involve theoretical and experimental investigation, technical direction and coordination, and the conception and planning of resources to support pump fed liquid engines and hardware and/or software requirements. Also involves the analysis, evaluation and solution of technical problems encountered in the application of manufacturing methods, facilities, processes, materials and tooling incident to the fabrication and assembly of pump fed liquid engines.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
30% - Prepare detail manufacturing, assembly, cleaning and component testing instructions.
20% - Provide direct interface with technicians to ensure clear understanding of process requirements.
20% - Provide solutions to technical problems utilizing manufacturing engineering techniques in the area of pump fed liquid engine assembly.
15% - Assist in preparing for and participate in Manufacturing Process Reviews of complex assemblies.
10% - Analyze and develop methods to increase efficiency of manufacturing processes and reduction of cycle times.
5% - Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers and shop personnel.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in tooling design for assembly processes. Prepare manufacturing specifications, cost estimates and schedules.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in an appropriate science and 5+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Experience with pump fed liquid engine, hardware fabrication and assembly processes. Experience preparing and presenting program reviews both internally and externally. Technical knowledge of pump fed liquid engine assembly, pressure test, cleaning and leak testing techniques. Technical writing skills. Proficient computer skills in Quicksilver and Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. Self-starter who requires minimum supervision. Requires organizational skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to organize and clearly convey thoughts and to communicate clearly and accurately on technical issues.
Workplace may include areas where chemical materials are encountered. May involve exposure to shop environment including variable noise levels. Must customarily have a high consciousness for personnel and
equipment safety. May be required to utilize a variety of personal protective equipment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
