Overview:
Performs supplier quality engineering assignments requiring a wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
25%: Reviews products, specifications and supplier requirements for translation into acceptance methods and plans (including acceptance sampling plans if needed). Develops implements and/or reviews corrective action and process improvements with supplied material. Processing nonconformances, monitoring or performance of product acceptance. Evaluation of suppliers and supplier submitted data including working with suppliers for improvement. Evaluate the capability of new suppliers and subcontractors and update the Approved Suppliers List. Review process planning to ensure compliance with drawing, specification and contractual requirements.
60%: Performs audits and inspections at suppliers as required. May recommend NDT techniques to meet the needs of new programs and problem areas. May provide technical support for NDT inspections. May develop process control methodology at suppliers May assign work to and direct less senior quality engineers and inspection personnel as required.
15%: Provides imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of quality engineering techniques. Conceives and plans projects involving the development of new methods to attain objectives. Works with and obtains supplier improvements as required to meet targets and objectives. Keeps current within area of specialty in support of project assignment.
May be located at a remote location. Requres considerable travel.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate science and/or equivalent combination of education and at least 5 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
